First Day Hike - 2025

January 1, 2025

10:00AM

Please join us for the 2nd Annual First Day Hike. A great way to kick off 2025, from 10:00AM-12:00PM on January 1, 2025. Fresh air, scenic salt marsh views and the camaraderie of like-minded friends of the North Inlet-Winyah Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR).

We will be offering a longer hike and a shorter hike depending on your interest. Visit either Clambank Landing or Oyster Landing on Reserve property at Hobcaw Barony. Dress for the weather, bring a snack and something to drink, binoculars, camera and whatever else you want to enjoy a hike into the natural salt marsh habitat. Meet up in the Hobcaw Barony parking lot, and please register at the following link so we have a good headcount:

We will be riding around the property in a 14-passenger bus, with some limited walking along the way. Please pack a lunch or snack, and you may want to bring water, a hat, bug spray, binoculars and anything else to make your tour comfortable. Participation will be limited to 14 people.

What we do

We are your ambassadors to the North Inlet-Winyah Bay Reserve!  The only thing we love more than learning about our estuary is sharing what we learn in one of the most beautiful settings in South Carolina.

We play an active role in Reserve school programs, helping children discover the wonder of fiddler crabs and snails, while enhancing their science education.

We also educate and energize our fellow citizens through events like the Carolina Beach and River Clean Up and workshops on topics including how to build your own rain barrel.
